عبر مسؤولون في السفارة الامريكية بالقاهرة عن تذمرهم الشديد بسبب حفل غنائي احياه المطرب العراقي كاظم الساهر مؤخرا في القاهرة، حيث قدم عددا من الاغنيات معظمها ترثي العراق. ووفق ما نشرته صحيفة القدس العربي فقد انتقد عدد من كبار الشخصيات في السفارة قصيدة بعينها تقول كلماتها: ليس لنا سواك يا الله فارحمنا من الذين دمروا بلادنا يكرهون الحب يكرهون الحياة يكرهون الورد يكرهون النساء يكرهون الزرع يكرهون السلام تعالي أقبل وجهك تعالي أشرب دمعك بغداد.. بغداد.. بغداد. وكان عدد من المسؤولين الذين يجيدون العربية بالسفارة قد حضروا حفل كاظم الذي اقيم في قاعة المؤتمرات بمدينة نصر، واستمعوا للقصيدة وقاموا غاضبين قبل ان يتم المطرب غناءها. وقد تردد ان من بين الحاضرين السفير الامريكي بالقاهرة والذي يهوي الغناء العربي ويفضل كثيرا التخفي في الاماكن العامة بعيدا عن الناظرين، ويلتقي بمواطنين في الشارع لمعرفة آرائهم في العديد من الموضوعات. وكان الجمهور الذي حضر الحفل ويتجاوز عدده خمسة آلاف مشاهد معظمهم من العراقيين فضلا عن آلاف المواطنين الذين فشلوا في شراء تذاكر للحفل، فوقفوا في الخارج في انتظار خروج كاظم للقائه قد عبر عن سعادته، وذلك لأن كاظم بدا اكثر رغبة في ان يحول الليلة لمناسبة للتنديد بالاحتلال الامريكي وحض شعبه علي المقاومة والوحدة، غير ان الليلة شهدت كثيرا من المراهقين والمراهقات الذين كانوا يرغبون في الاستماع والتمتع بليلة رومانسية مع كاظم عبر اغانيه العاطفية، مما جعله ينزل عند رغبتهم بتقديم اغنيتين في هذا الاطار كي لا ينصرفوا غاضبين. وقد كشفت الحفلة مزاعم الذين تحدثوا من قبل عن ان شعبية كاظم في تراجع، حيث بدا الاقبال شديدا للغاية، وقد قام مئات الشباب والفتيات بارتداء تيشيرتات عليها صور كاظم، كما شهدت الشوارع المحيطة بقاعة المؤتمرات ازدحاما. وتعرضت حركة المرور للشلل التام. وفي تصريحات خاصة لـ القدس العربي اكد كاظم انه سعيد للغاية بسبب ذلك الاصرار الذي بدا علي وجوه العراقيين في العودة لبلادهم من اجل اعادة تعميرها حينما يغادر المحتل. واكد الساهر ان جيوش الاحتلال سوف تغادر وان طال الزمن محملة بعار الهزيمة. وحول تقديمه لاغان وطنية قال ان ذلك ما يمكن ان اقدمه لشعبي وللجماهير العربية اينما وجدت والتي تشعر بالألم لما يجري في العراق .

We women of Tadhamun condemn the persisting practice of arbitrary arrests by the Iraqi security forces. We condemn their arrests of women in lieu of their men folk. These are 'inherited' practices. We are alarmed by credible media reports of the Green Zone government’s intentions of executing hundreds of Iraqi men and women.

From the angle of the photo, it is possible to calculate that the complex is being built at E 396388 N 3785995 (UTM Zone 38 North) or Lat. 34.209760° Long. 43.875325°, to the west of the Malwiya (Spiral Minaret), and behind the Spiral Cafe. While the point itself may not have more than Abbasid houses under the ground, it is adjacent to the palace of Sur Isa, the remains of which can be seen in the photo. While the initial construction might or might not touch the palace, accompanying activities will certainly spread over it.Sur Isa can be identified with the palace of al-Burj, built by the Abbasid Caliph al-Mutawakkil, probably in 852-3 (Northedge, Historical Topography of Samarra, pp 125-127, 240). The palace is said to have cost 33 million dirhams, and was luxurious. Details are given by al-Shabushti, Kitab al-Diyarat. Samarra was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO at the end of June.
